Iran to host 13th interfaith conference between Islam, Christianity
Talks aim to promote spiritual values, confront global challenges
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran will host the 13th round of dialogue between Islam and Orthodox Christianity, according to an announcement made during a meeting in Kazan between Mohammad-Mahdi Imanipour, head of the Islamic Culture and Communication Organization, and Bishop Cyril Nakonechny of Rybinsk and Danilovsky.
Imanipour noted that the upcoming talks build on the success of 12 previous rounds of interfaith dialogue and will be chaired by Metropolitan Cyril.
He expressed optimism that the next session would yield practical solutions for enhancing the role of religion and spirituality in a multipolar world.
“A reassessment of the modern world is necessary,” Imanipour said, explaining that Iranian experts and researchers, in cooperation with scholars from eight countries, are currently working on a project to define how faith can shape the emerging global order.
Highlighting international concerns, Imanipour also urged followers of all divine religions to confront the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Palestine, denouncing what he described as “explicit genocide” and forced displacement of Palestinians.
Metropolitan Cyril echoed the urgency of addressing global crises, saying, “Today’s world is facing fundamental identity and moral challenges.”
He emphasized the responsibility of religious communities to preserve spiritual and ethical values, especially for future generations.
The date and agenda for the 13th round of talks are expected to be announced soon.
