Iran plans major satellite launches in 2025-2027
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) – Iran will undertake an ambitious series of satellite launches and space infrastructure projects in 2025–2027, according to Hassan Salarieh, head of the Iranian Space Agency and Deputy ICT Minister.
Salarieh announced that a range of domestic and international satellite launches are planned for the upcoming year, including missions utilizing the Simorgh and Optimized Simorgh launch vehicles, as well as the Zoljanah and Qaem 100 rockets.
He said that the launches of the Zafar and Paya satellites, initially scheduled for 2025, have been postponed and are now rescheduled for 2026, according to Mehr News.
Salarieh said both test and operational launches are planned for the Martyr Soleimani Satellite Constellation in 2026 and 2027.
The Nahid-2 satellite is also expected to be launched in 2026, with both domestic and international launch options under consideration.
Salarieh also provided an update on the Chabahar Space Base, a strategic infrastructure project in southeastern Iran. He said the first of its three phases is projected to be completed in 2027.
In addition to satellite activities, Iran is expanding its research in space biology.
Salarieh revealed that the country is currently developing advanced biological capsules weighing 500 kg and 1,500 kg.
The larger capsule is being designed with the goal of carrying a human into space.
He further said 60% physical infrastructure of a one-ton-class satellite laboratory has been completed.
