Iran defeats India to win CAVA Men’s Volleyball Nations League title
Team Melli ‘B’ sweeps final 3-0; Iran’s women’s ice hockey squad also advances to Asia Cup final
FERGANA, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Iran’s national ‘B’ volleyball team clinched the 2025 CAVA Men’s Nations League championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over India in the final match, continuing their unbeaten run throughout the tournament.
The final ended with scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-19 in favor of Team Melli ‘B’, who had earlier defeated India 3-1 in the group stage, alongside victories over Turkmenistan (3-1), Uzbekistan (3-0), Kazakhstan (3-0), and Pakistan (3-1).
Held in Fergana, Uzbekistan, the regional tournament brought together top teams from Central and South Asia, offering a competitive platform for emerging talents.
Pakistan secured the bronze medal after defeating Kazakhstan 3-1 in the third-place playoff.
As attention shifts from the senior men’s league, two youth tournaments are set to begin on June 10 in Tashkent.
The CAVA U16 Boys’ Volleyball Championship will include six teams — Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, UZB1, and UZB2. Meanwhile, the U19 Men’s Championship will feature India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, UZB1, and UZB2.
Iran’s women dominate in ice hockey, advance to Asia Cup final
In a parallel success for Iranian sports this week, Iran’s women’s ice hockey team reached the final of the 2025 IIHF Women’s Asia Cup after defeating Malaysia 6-0.
The Iranian squad, competing with a youth team, has delivered dominant performances throughout the tournament, including earlier wins over the UAE (4-1), India (5-1), and Kyrgyzstan (6-0). They will face the Philippines in the final on Friday.
The 2025 IIHF Women’s Asia Cup, organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation, runs from May 31 to June 6 in Al Ain, bringing together women’s teams from across Asia in a growing display of regional competition and talent development.
