Interactive exhibits revive Saudi heritage at Diriyah palace
Immersive displays at Prince Turki bin Saud Palace highlight resilience, leadership and daily life during the First Saudi State
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — Interactive heritage experiences at the historic Prince Turki bin Saud Palace in Diriyah are offering visitors a vivid journey into the courage, patience and resilience that shaped the early Saudi state.
The palace is a central feature of the “Hal Al-Qusoor” program under Diriyah Season 25/26, an initiative designed to showcase landmarks of deep cultural and social importance within the Kingdom’s historical heartland, reported Saudi Press Agency.
Prince Turki bin Saud, born in the At-Turaif District in the late 18th century, was raised in an environment defined by leadership and horsemanship, influenced strongly by his father Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz, the military commander of the First Saudi State.
Situated in the southern section of At-Turaif, the palace was built in the early 19th century and exemplifies traditional Najdi architecture, using mud bricks, stone and tamarisk wood in its construction.
The two-storey structure is organized around a central courtyard, with wide gates and multiple exits reflecting both architectural norms and the defensive needs of the era.
Visitors moving through the palace are encouraged to imagine the strategic discussions and decisions once made within its walls, which played a role in Diriyah’s endurance during a formative period in Saudi history.
Modern sound and lighting technologies now animate these spaces, transforming historical narratives into immersive experiences that connect contemporary audiences with the past.
From private living quarters to reception halls and meeting rooms, the palace offers insight into daily life during the First Saudi State, with architectural details symbolizing bravery and perseverance.
Diriyah Season 25/26 aligns with the objectives of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, reinforcing Diriyah’s identity as the birthplace of the Saudi state.
