‘Indonesia’s Muslim fashion ranked first worldwide’
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has said that Indonesian Muslim fashion has been ranked the number one in the world this year
JAKARTA, Indonesia (MNTV) – Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has said that Indonesian Muslim fashion, also known as modest fashion, has been ranked the number one in the world this year, reports Tempo.
“This recognition reflects the creativity and quality of Indonesian fashion products,” Budi said in a statement.
Following this achievement, Budi emphasized that the government’s role is now to encourage more business actors, including SMEs, to expand into the global market.
One of the key strategies, he explained, is leveraging e-commerce platforms alongside physical stores, a combined approach known as omnichannel marketing. While physical stores offer a direct shopping experience, online platforms allow entrepreneurs to reach a much wider audience.
Budi made these remarks during a discussion session at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2026, which was held from November 6 to 9, 2025.
During the four-day event, JMFW 2026 recorded a total transaction value of $19.51 million surpassing the initial target of $10 million.
Budi revealed that transactions came from multiple sources: memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth $15.30 million, direct on-site sales of $436,280, and business matching transactions totaling $3.77 million. Around 38 percent of the total originated from SMEs.
The exhibition attracted 11,459 visitors over four days and featured 242 local brands, showcasing a wide array of designs from modest fashion designers as well as other supporting industries.
