EUROPE (MNTV) – Nearly half of Europeans now view US President Donald Trump as an “enemy of Europe,” according to a new survey released Thursday, which also shows growing fears of a future war with Russia.
The France-based Eurobazooka poll, conducted by Cluster 17 and Le Grand Continent, found that 48% of respondents consider Trump an adversary — a four-point increase since September.
The survey also revealed deep concern over Europe’s security, with 51% saying the risk of an open conflict with Russia in the coming years is “high.” Another 18% believe the risk is “very high.”
A large majority, 69%, doubt their own country’s ability to defend itself against a possible Russian attack. That figure climbs above 80% in Portugal, Italy, and Belgium.
The poll further showed that 55% of Europeans prefer maintaining an equal distance from both the US and China rather than aligning with either power.
Support for EU membership remains strong at 74%, while 19% say they would opt to leave. France recorded the weakest backing, with 27% in favor of leaving and 12% undecided.
Meanwhile, 63% of those surveyed view Brexit as a failure, saying it negatively affected the UK.
The Eurobazooka poll was conducted in nine countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Romania, and Greece.
