French Left calls for cancellation of Israeli pop star’s Paris concert
La France Insoumise accuses Eyal Golan of supporting genocide in Gaza
PARIS (MNTV) – France’s leftist political party, La France Insoumise (LFI), has demanded the cancellation of Israeli pop star Eyal Golan’s upcoming Paris concert, accusing him of promoting violence against Palestinians.
In a statement, LFI, led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, called for a mobilization to prevent Golan’s May 20 performance, asserting that he “should not come to sing the praises of genocide in Paris.”
The party claims that Golan’s past social media posts, including a call to “leave no soul alive” following Hamas-led offensive against Israel in October 2023, constitute support for genocide.
LFI’s statement also noted that Golan repeated his inflammatory remarks days later, garnering support from Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
The party labeled Golan’s concert, which is expected to draw over 4,500 attendees, a “real voice for genocide supporters.”
Event organizers Liam Productions dismissed the accusations as antisemitic, emphasizing the concert’s intent to unite audiences.
“On Holocaust Remembrance Day, as we honor the consequences of silence in the face of hate, this call to boycott an Israeli artist is thinly veiled antisemitism,” their statement read.
LFI maintains that the call to cancel Eyal Golan’s concert is not antisemitism but a firm rejection of his publicly documented support for genocidal rhetoric against Palestinians.
The party contends that on Holocaust Remembrance Day—a solemn occasion that reminds us of the dangers of hatred and the need to oppose it unequivocally—it is essential to hold individuals accountable for promoting violence, regardless of their nationality or religion.
Golan’s statements, which call for the extermination of an entire people, stand in direct opposition to the values of human rights and dignity.
