Empowering Indonesian women: SheHacks movement gains momentum
Having already generated more than 30,000 technology based solutions, movement aims to bridge gender gap in tech, digital entrepreneurship
JAKARTA, Indonesia (MNTV) – A pioneering effort to unlock the potential of Indonesian women in technology and digital entrepreneurship is yielding remarkable results, with a five-year program sparking a national movement that promises to drive meaningful change in the country’s digital ecosystem.
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has transformed its SheHacks program into a national movement, aiming to bridge the gender gap in technology and digital entrepreneurship in Indonesia.
The initiative has already generated over 30,000 innovative ideas and technology-based solutions from women across Indonesia.
These stories of resilience showcase women launching digital businesses, developing solutions for disabilities and challenging stereotypes.
“SheHacks is no longer just a program. It is now a movement — a movement to dismantle the barriers that prevent women from dreaming, creating and leading,” said Reski Damayanti, Indosat’s chief legal officer.
The UnlockingShe campaign, launched in conjunction with SheHacks 2025, urges government, private enterprises, communities and individuals to join in opening doors for access to technology and leadership opportunities for women.
“When one door opens, thousands of women will walk through and drive change with purpose,” Damayanti said.
Indosat has collaborated with UN Women, the Australia Indonesia Institute and nine other organizations, to create an ecosystem that empowers women.
“SheHacks is a space where women encourage each other, learn together and become change-makers. We believe that Indonesia’s digital future can only be realized when everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute, including women,” Damayanti said.
