Egyptian city Hurghada ranks top global travel destination for summer 2025
Egyptian resort surpasses Tokyo, Dubai, and Nice in global survey, driven by affordability, wellness appeal, and growing Asian interest
HURGHADA, Egypt (MNTV) — Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Hurghada has emerged as the world’s most popular tourist destination for the summer of 2025, according to a recent global survey released by Booking.com.
The Egyptian coastal hub outperformed leading cities like Tokyo, Dubai, Bangkok, and Nice, becoming a top choice for millions of international travelers, particularly from Asia.
The report, which surveyed over 32,000 people across 32 countries, highlights a shift in traveler preferences toward destinations that combine luxury, affordability, and natural beauty—qualities Hurghada has come to embody.
Nearly 48 percent of respondents indicated they plan to spend more on travel this year, favoring unique and restorative experiences.
Officials attributed Hurghada’s rise to its alignment with the global trend of “recovery and wellness” tourism.
Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafy emphasized the city’s appeal to tourists seeking relaxation and scenic escapes from daily life.
Meanwhile, travel expert Ehab Shukry noted that the findings reflect global confidence in Egypt’s tourism strategy, including state-private sector cooperation to upgrade infrastructure, service quality, and international promotion.
Interest from South Korean travelers in both Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh has also surged, with tourists viewing Egypt as a cost-effective alternative to European destinations due to its mild climate, diverse activities, and cultural depth.
