Delegation from 10 Muslim countries explores investment avenues in Afghanistan
Visitors pledged to present what they called “true image” of Afghanistan to broader Islamic world and encourage other investors to engage with country
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — A delegation of religious scholars and investors from 10 Islamic countries has expressed interest in channeling millions of dollars into Afghanistan’s infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism sectors, underscoring growing economic outreach to the Taliban-led Afghan government.
According to Pajhwok Afghan News, the group — representing Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Bahrain, Iraq, Oman, Malaysia, Palestine, Syria, and India — met with Panjshir provincial governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim. Delegates discussed a proposal under which 250 companies from Islamic countries would each invest about $900,000 in Afghanistan.
The visitors pledged to present what they called the “true image” of Afghanistan to the broader Islamic world and encourage other investors to engage with the country.
Governor Hakim told the delegation that Afghanistan’s infrastructure had been “completely destroyed” over the past five decades but said the country now offered “more suitable ground for investment than ever before” to help strengthen what he described as a “pure Islamic system.”
Investment priorities identified by the Panjshir administration include education, healthcare, agriculture, and mining — sectors where authorities say “no fundamental work” had previously been done.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Zandani, head of Yemen’s Ulema Council, praised what he called Afghanistan’s “unprecedented” security and vowed to urge investors to commit funds with confidence. Qatari investor Mohammad Hassan Al-Emadi announced plans to invest in tourism and agriculture, calling the country “a suitable platform for investment.”
Khalid, a Yemeni businessman and head of the Islamic Finance Board, said his visit aimed to help the Islamic Emirate “stand on its own feet,” framing investment as both a commercial opportunity and a political commitment.
The governor’s office said Khalid is preparing a detailed investment plan to coordinate the participation of hundreds of companies from across the Islamic world.
