Civilian casualties reported as India attacks Pakistan
Mosques, homes, and civilians struck amid escalating tensions
ISLAMABAD (MNTV) – Pakistan claims Indian missile strikes hit six locations in Pakistan, causing civilian casualties and extensive damage to residential and religious structures.
The strikes come amidst heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.
According to Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the attacks resulted in 24 impacts across Ahmedpur East in Bahawalpur, Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Muridke in Punjab, Kotli Loharan in Sialkot, and Shakargarh in Narowal district of Punjab.
At least eight civilians were killed, including a three-year-old child, and at least 32 others were injured. Two individuals remain missing.
In Bahawalpur, five people, including two women and a three-year-old child, lost their lives when missiles struck family quarters and a mosque called Subhanullah Masjid. Thirty-one others sustained injuries, many of them critical.
Kotli in Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir experienced five strikes, with missiles targeting a mosque and nearby homes. Two civilians, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy, were killed, while a mother and daughter sustained injuries.
Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, saw seven impacts, including an attack on a mosque called Bilal Masjid. A young girl was injured, and infrastructure near the mosque was heavily damaged.
Muridke was hit by four strikes, with a mosque and nearby residences suffering severe damage. One person was killed, another injured, and two others are unaccounted for.
In Sialkot’s Kotli Lohara area, two strikes occurred, though one missile misfired into an open field. No casualties were reported in this location.
Shakar Garh suffered two strikes, causing minor damage to a medical dispensary.
Pakistan has condemned the strikes as a violation of international law and a deliberate act of aggression.
“These attacks targeted innocent civilians and places of worship,” said Gen. Chaudhry.
“This provocation will not go unanswered, and Pakistan reserves the right to respond at a time and place of its choosing.”
