Bahrain marks Women’s Day with empowerment initiatives
Bahrain highlights workplace empowerment, government support, and nationwide progress as institutions celebrate women’s leadership and contributions
MANAMA, Bahrain (MNTV) — Bahrain marked Bahraini Women’s Day with nationwide celebrations recognizing women’s contributions across public and private sectors, including Stc Bahrain’s commemoration of the first anniversary of its Women’s Empowerment Committee.
Stc Bahrain, the digital services provider, hosted a gathering for its female employees to highlight their achievements and strengthen internal support networks, according to Bahraini news.
The company said its Women’s Empowerment Committee, established in December 2024, has worked over the past year to expand opportunities, remove professional barriers, and improve the overall employee experience for women.
Officials added that the committee reflects the company’s long-term commitment to building an equitable workplace where all employees can reach their potential.
Government officials also underscored national-level progress. Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi said Bahraini Women’s Day serves as a national occasion to honor the central role women play in the kingdom’s development.
She noted that sustained support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and guidance from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have strengthened women’s participation across sectors.
Al Rumaihi praised the Supreme Council for Women, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for advancing women’s leadership, representation, and professional development.
She said Bahraini women are now core contributors to policy-making, engineering, project supervision, and digital service development. In the housing sector alone, 6,555 women have benefited from government housing programs since 2011.
The minister said the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry continues to expand leadership opportunities for women, enabling them to lead engineering teams and implement strategic initiatives aligned with Bahrain Vision 2030.
She added that close coordination with the Supreme Council for Women has strengthened women’s presence in decision-making roles.
Officials said this year’s celebrations reflect a wider national commitment to supporting women’s innovation, participation, and leadership in driving Bahrain’s development.
