Azerbaijan hospital performs first robotic surgery
A medical facility operating under Azerbaijan's state-run healthcare authority TABIB has successfully carried out its first robotic-assisted surgery
BAKU, Azerbaijan (MNTV) — A medical facility operating under Azerbaijan’s state-run healthcare authority TABIB has successfully carried out its first robotic-assisted surgery, TABIB Executive Director Vugar Gurbanov said Tuesday.
Speaking at a briefing at the Yeni Klinika (New Clinic), Gurbanov said the procedure was completed without technical or surgical complications, according to Report news agency.
He said the robotic system allows for remote collaboration and, if needed, foreign specialists with whom TABIB has established partnerships can be connected to the platform.
“The robotic system does not make decisions independently,” Gurbanov said. “The use of robotic surgery minimises blood loss and opens up new opportunities for the development of the healthcare system and the performance of more complex surgeries in the future.”
TABIB oversees public medical institutions across Azerbaijan and has been pursuing modernisation efforts aimed at expanding access to advanced medical technologies.
