Azerbaijan climbs 10 places in global e-governance index
Azerbaijan has made notable gains in digital transformation and e-governance, rising 10 spots in the United Nations E-Government Development Index
BAKU, Azerbaijan (MNTV) — Azerbaijan has made notable gains in digital transformation and e-governance, rising 10 spots in the United Nations E-Government Development Index, a senior official said Thursday.
Rashad Bayramov, advisor to the Minister of Digital Development and Transport, shared the update during a media session held alongside the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in Baku, Trend reported.
Bayramov said improvements in the startup ecosystem, expansion of technology parks, and upgrades to digital infrastructure have significantly boosted Azerbaijan’s global standing.
“Azerbaijan achieved high results in the UN E-Government Development Index for the first time,” he said.
“The country recorded a 21 percent increase in online government services and telecommunications infrastructure, climbing 10 places overall — a 28 percent improvement from the previous year.”
He added that ICT continues to play an expanding role in Azerbaijan’s efforts to strengthen its non-oil economy. Between January and September 2025, ICT sector revenue grew 6.9 percent year-on-year, reaching 2.7 billion manats.
