Algeria Telecom launches public survey to identify fiber coverage gaps
Online form aims to accelerate FTTH rollout in underserved areas ahead of 2026 national connectivity plan
ALGIERS, Algeria (MNTV) — Algeria Telecom has launched a nationwide online survey inviting citizens to pinpoint areas without fiber-optic connectivity, as part of the telco’s efforts to expand its Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network across the country by 2026.
The initiative, described by the company as a “participatory mechanism,” seeks to involve Algerians directly in mapping underserved regions to guide future fiber deployments.
According to the official Algérie Press Service, the survey’s findings will be integrated into Algeria Telecom’s upcoming FTTH extension projects, helping prioritize areas based on public demand and need.
Algeria Telecom’s 2026 action plan aims to provide FTTH connectivity to all neighborhoods and regions nationwide, reflecting the company’s broader push to enhance digital infrastructure.
As of April 30, 2025, Algeria Telecom reported over 2 million FTTH subscribers, a steep rise from just 53,000 in 2020.
Despite this progress, fiber coverage still reaches only 27% of the country’s 7.4 million households, based on March 2024 data from Ecofin.
Internet penetration in Algeria remains high overall, with 76.9% of the population online at the beginning of 2025, according to figures from Data Reportal. However, most of these users access the internet through mobile networks.
The online form, available via the Algeria Telecom website, will remain open to the public until the end of July.
