Afghan investors propose $12 million private industrial park in Kabul
Plan to build 1,000-acre facility in Deh Sabz aims to boost domestic production and generate thousands of jobs
KABUL, Afghanistan (MNTV) — A group of Afghan investors has submitted a $12 million proposal to the Taliban-led Afghan government for the development of private industrial parks in Kabul’s Deh Sabz district, aiming to bolster local manufacturing and employment.
During a meeting with Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban-appointed acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, the investors emphasized that the activation of privately-run industrial parks could create jobs for thousands of Afghans, including hundreds of skilled industrial workers.
Ministry spokesperson Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad said the minister welcomed the proposal and requested a detailed plan so the ministry’s technical team could begin assessing the project’s implementation.
“The investors presented a plan to establish a private industrial park on 1,000 acres of land in Deh Sabz district, worth $12 million,” Jawad said. “They emphasized this initiative would enable hundreds of industrialists to operate and provide employment for thousands.”
Representatives of Afghanistan’s private sector have praised the initiative, saying industrial parks aligned with international standards are essential for sustainable economic development.
Mir Zaman Popal, acting head of finance and administration at the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said the government must ensure essential infrastructure, including electricity and sewage systems, while investors bring in capital and innovation.
“The government must provide the land and services, while the private sector takes responsibility for sectoral investment and execution,” Popal said.
Abdul Jabbar Safi, head of the Afghanistan Industrialists’ Association, confirmed that the park would be jointly funded and constructed to meet international benchmarks. “This township will be developed over 1,000 acres, with roads and sidewalks built to global standards,” he said.
The plan comes after the leader of the Islamic Emirate issued an order to allocate land in all provinces for the establishment of industrial parks aimed at economic development and industrial growth in Afghanistan. Relevant institutions are currently working on implementing this directive.
