Israel strikes Iran’s largest petrochemical facility
Israeli attack hits key Iranian industrial site, causing major disruption and economic losses, drawing condemnation from Tehran
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Israel carried out a military strike on Iran’s largest petrochemical complex in Asaluyeh, Iranian officials reported, marking another escalation in a campaign targeting the country’s critical infrastructure.
According to Iranian media, multiple explosions were observed at the site, which produces approximately half of Iran’s petrochemical output.
Earlier strikes by Israel on the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Zone and other industrial facilities have already damaged roughly 85 percent of Iran’s petrochemical exports, officials said.
The attacks are part of a broader pattern of assaults on Iran’s industrial and energy sectors, including recent hits on gas facilities in the South Pars Special Economic Zone, which houses part of the world’s largest natural gas reserve shared with Qatar.
Iranian authorities condemned the strikes as deliberate acts aimed at weakening national infrastructure and harming the economy, which they say amount to tens of billions of dollars in losses.
Officials emphasized that such attacks threaten regional stability and are carried out under the backing of the United States.
Tehran described the targeting of essential industries, including steel and petrochemicals, as part of an ongoing effort to undermine Iran’s sovereignty and its capacity to develop civilian and defense capabilities.
The Iranian government reiterated its determination to protect key facilities and maintain production, warning that repeated assaults by Israel and its allies will not achieve their objectives of crippling the nation’s economy.
