Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that US President Donald Trump could help bring the war with Russia closer to an end
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that US President Donald Trump could help bring the war with Russia closer to an end, ahead of their meeting at the White House.
Zelenskyy said Kyiv has completed all preparations for the talks, which will focus on both military and economic measures aimed at ending the conflict.
“We have already prepared our part of the homework ahead of the Oct. 17 meeting with President Trump,” he said in his evening address. “Every detail, everything is ready. The agenda of our meeting with the president of the United States is very substantive.”
He said the discussions could “truly bring the war closer to an end,” emphasizing that “the United States can wield this kind of global influence, and we are doing everything to ensure that others around the world stand on our side in this effort.”
A Ukrainian delegation — including the prime minister, the head of the presidential office, and other senior officials — has already arrived in Washington to lay the groundwork and meet with US defense and energy companies.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is advancing the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative with partners across Central, Southern, and Northern Europe to jointly procure American weapons.
He also thanked the United Kingdom for imposing new sanctions on Russia’s largest oil firms and praised Greece for its continued backing. Energy cooperation and resilience measures were among the topics discussed during his recent call with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Zelenskyy said.
