Uzbekistan to host first international forum on architecture and urban design
Global firms including Bjarke Ingels Group and Zaha Hadid Architects to join Tashkent event focused on sustainable and human-centered cities
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan (MNTV) — Uzbekistan will host its first major international forum on architecture and urban development this month, bringing leading global designers to Tashkent as the country seeks to showcase its rapid urban transformation.
According to the independent outlet UZ Daily, the SHARE Uzbekistan International Forum on Architecture and Urban Development will take place on Sept. 22–23 with the participation of 30 architects from 15 countries.
Among the firms represented are Denmark’s Bjarke Ingels Group, the UK’s Zaha Hadid Architects, France’s XTU Architects, and China’s MAD Architects.
The event is part of the wider SHARE Architects platform, which for nearly three decades has connected architects, engineers, and contractors across Central and Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Organizers say the Tashkent forum marks the initiative’s first expansion into Central Asia.
Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Davronjon Adilov said the forum would provide “a unique platform for experience exchange and professional development, enabling the integration of international practices into the national architectural school.”
Discussions will focus on sustainable and “smart” city projects, modern façade solutions, ecological construction methods, and adaptive architecture. Panels will explore how public buildings shape urban life, while a second-day program on “living architecture” will highlight designs that promote human well-being, interaction, and restoration.
Organizers expect more than 250 participants, including architects, engineers, developers, and technology suppliers. The event is supported by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, along with Manar Development and other partners.
The Tashkent forum will be followed immediately by SHARE Kazakhstan, scheduled for Sept. 24–25 in Almaty, reflecting growing regional interest in international collaboration on architecture and sustainable urban planning.
