US president warns Hamas, ‘somebody may enter Gaza under US auspices’
US President Donald Trump has warned Hamas that forces operating under American auspices could enter Gaza if the group fails to comply
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) — US President Donald Trump has warned Hamas that forces operating under American auspices could enter Gaza if the group fails to comply with ceasefire terms.
Speaking at the White House on Thursday, Trump said that while US troops would not take part directly, regional forces positioned “very close, very nearby” might intervene if necessary.
“Somebody will go in under our auspices — it’s not going to be us,” Trump said, indicating that neighboring states could act with US authorization.
The remarks come as Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire, which includes captives and prisoner exchanges.
Trump said the situation had “calmed down,” expressing cautious optimism that Hamas would honor its commitments.
“We have a commitment from them, and I assume they’re going to honor that commitment,” he said, referencing ongoing efforts to recover the remains of captives under the agreement reached earlier this month.
Hamas described the truce as ensuring “an end to the war, protection for our people from aggression, and the beginning of reconstruction.” So far, the group has released 20 Israeli captives and the remains of 10 others, in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails.
The ceasefire marks the first phase of a broader US-backed proposal outlining Gaza’s reconstruction and future governance, excluding Hamas from administrative control. The deal follows months of conflict that have left an estimated 68,000 Palestinians dead and devastated Gaza’s infrastructure.
