US defends strikes in Caribbean as ‘saving lives’
Wiles said the destruction of these vessels prevents narcotics from entering the US, claiming the policy saves approximately 25,000 lives
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) — White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles defended U.S. military strikes on suspected drug-trafficking boats, saying President Donald Trump views them as life-saving actions rather than lethal operations.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Wiles said the destruction of these vessels prevents narcotics from entering the U.S., claiming the policy saves approximately 25,000 lives.
Critics have questioned the lack of public evidence that the targeted boats were carrying drugs and warned that such strikes bypass due process.
Wiles linked the policy to pressure on Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro, describing his government as a “drug cartel.”
Caracas has accused Washington of pursuing regime change.
