UN: 114 civilians killed in Israel’s ceasefire violations in Lebanon
The United Nations human rights office reported that Israeli violations of the November 2024 ceasefire with Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 114 civilians
GENEVA (MNTV) — The United Nations human rights office reported that Israeli violations of the November 2024 ceasefire with Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 114 civilians.
Spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan told Anadolu Agency that the office continues to monitor Israeli airstrikes targeting buildings in southern Lebanese villages, noting that civilian casualties have steadily risen since the ceasefire took effect.
Al-Kheetan emphasized that the deadly impact on civilians “must stop immediately,” highlighting that residents in the region have been living under conditions of fear and instability for over two years.
He urged Israel to strictly adhere to both the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law, stressing the urgent need to protect civilian lives.
Since October 2023, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have claimed more than 4,000 lives and injured nearly 17,000 people, escalating into a full-scale offensive by September 2024.
