UAE, Pakistan strengthen digital cooperation at GITEX Global 2025
UAE and Pakistan agree to enhance collaboration in AI, data innovation, and cybersecurity during high-level talks in Dubai
DUBAI, UAE (MNTV) — The United Arab Emirates and Pakistan have agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, data governance, and advanced digital technologies during meetings held on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2025, the world’s largest technology exhibition.
The discussions took place between Omar Suwaina Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
The talks focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in AI integration, cloud infrastructure, and digital innovation.
Running from October 13 to 17, GITEX Global 2025 brings together more than 6,500 companies and 200,000 participants from over 180 countries, showcasing global advancements in AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and sustainable technology.
Pakistan’s National Pavilion at the event features 10 startups and 26 technology firms, highlighting the country’s emerging digital ecosystem.
Khawaja said Pakistan’s “Digital Nation Pakistan Act” and National Data Exchange Layer aim to foster smart governance, cashless transactions, and AI-driven innovation across public and private sectors.
In a separate meeting with Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, both sides agreed to collaborate on cyber resilience, data sovereignty, and capacity-building frameworks. The partnership seeks to enhance secure digital infrastructure and cybersecurity standards in both countries.
Talks with Abu Dhabi’s G42 Cloud Group and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office centered on expanding cooperation in sovereign cloud systems, AI research hubs, and investment under Pakistan’s Cloud First Policy.
Khawaja also met with Romania’s Ministry of Economy advisor Vasile Catalin to explore cooperation between Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) and Romania’s National Cybersecurity Directorate (DNSC), focusing on digital ethics and governance.
Additionally, AI industry leaders including Dr. Ramin Hasani, CEO of Liquid AI, and Andrew Feldman, CEO of Cerebras Systems, discussed collaboration on AI skill development, startup incubation, and advanced computing to support Pakistan’s National Artificial Intelligence Policy 2025.
According to Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, bilateral IT exports have risen sharply to $380 million in 2025, up from $280 million the previous year, reflecting the growing strength of the UAE-Pakistan technology partnership.
