Türkiye donates advanced broadcast equipment to Somalia’s national media
Türkiye has donated modern cameras and live broadcast equipment to Somalia’s national media to strengthen the country’s communication
MOGADISHU, Somalia (MNTV) — Türkiye has donated modern cameras and live broadcast equipment to Somalia’s national media to strengthen the country’s communication and public broadcasting capacity, officials said Sunday.
The equipment was handed over by Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Alper Aktaş during a ceremony in Mogadishu, attended by Somali Information Minister Daud Aweis and representatives from both countries.
Aweis said the donation would greatly enhance state media operations.
“This will help us improve our communication systems and advance key national agendas,” he said, thanking Türkiye and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for their ongoing support.
According to the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu, the donation included “modern camera equipment provided to Somali National Television (SNTV), which operates under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, through TIKA.”
Since beginning operations in Somalia in 2011, TIKA has completed over 500 development projects across health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure sectors.
Türkiye’s humanitarian and development assistance to Somalia has now exceeded $1 billion, strengthening a partnership that began with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s landmark visit to Mogadishu in 2011.
