Turkish investments in Egypt exceed $4B
Growing trade ties, official visits deepen strategic cooperation between Cairo and Ankara across multiple industrial and commercial sectors
CAIRO, Egypt (MNTV) — Trade and investment relations between Egypt and Turkey have witnessed a significant boost, with Turkish investments in Egypt surpassing $4 billion, according to Abdel-Aziz al-Sherif, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Representation.
Sherif noted that bilateral trade between the two nations has reached around $10 billion, positioning Turkey as the second-largest recipient of Egyptian exports. He emphasized that the surge in economic cooperation reflects the strong momentum created by recent high-level visits exchanged between the leaders of both countries.
As part of ongoing efforts to attract new investments, the Egyptian Commercial Office in Istanbul, in coordination with the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), organized a visit for a delegation from the Authority led by its Chairman from September 29 to October 2.
The delegation’s program included several meetings with key Turkish business associations, such as the Turkish Textile and Yarn Exporters Association and the Garment Accessories Manufacturers Association. Discussions focused on promoting investment opportunities in the SCZone, particularly in the garment and textile sectors.
The Egyptian delegation also met with the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association, where roundtable sessions were held with member companies from diverse industries including construction materials, healthcare, packaging, and automotive components.
During the visit, 18 bilateral meetings were conducted between the SCZone chairman and executives from leading Turkish companies, many of whom expressed strong interest in launching investment projects in Egypt.
The growing partnership underscores both nations’ commitment to advancing industrial collaboration and expanding trade integration across key economic sectors.
