Turkish drone manufacturer to open Anatolian production facility in Samsun
Move expected to boost defense manufacturing and create high-tech jobs in Black Sea region
ISTANBUL, Türkiye (MNTV) – Baykar, the producer of Türkiye’s globally recognized unmanned aerial vehicles, announced plans to establish its first production hub in Anatolia, selecting the northern province of Samsun as the location.
The company said the investment will enhance high-tech manufacturing capacity in the region and generate skilled employment opportunities, positioning the Black Sea as an emerging center for defense and aerospace industries.
Baykar is best known for its Bayraktar TB2 drones, which have been deployed in multiple conflict zones, including Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and North Africa.
Its other platforms include the Bayraktar Akıncı, a high-altitude long-endurance combat drone, and the Bayraktar TB3, designed for operations from short-runway naval vessels. The firm is also developing Türkiye’s first unmanned fighter jet, Kızılelma.
The defense manufacturer exports its drones to over 35 countries and ranked among Türkiye’s top 10 exporters in 2024, with $1.8 billion in sales. The company has not disclosed which models will be produced at the Samsun facility.
Samsun Mayor Halit Doğan confirmed the plant will be built on a 400-decare industrial zone, describing Baykar as a key driver of Türkiye’s national technology ambitions.
