Trump proposes $1 trillion military budget
President Donald Trump unveiled a historic $1 trillion military budget proposal — a massive jump from the current $892 billion in defense spending.
The plan, announced during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s White House visit, would consume over half of the federal government’s discretionary funds.
Trump said “Nobody’s seen anything like it”.
Pentagon officials, including Defense secretary Pete Hegseth, praised the move, pledging to prioritize lethality and readiness with the funds.
Critics warn the spending spree comes at a steep cost.
New tariffs on imports are effectively raising taxes on everyday goods — hitting working-class families hardest.
One analyst slammed the plan, calling it a recipe for global conflict and American decline.
They argue it drains resources from diplomacy while escalating trade wars.
