Trump gives ‘complete and total endorsement’ to Argentina’s Milei ahead of legislative elections
US President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Argentine President Javier Milei ahead of Argentina’s elections
WASHINGTON, United States (MNTV) — US President Donald Trump has publicly endorsed Argentine President Javier Milei ahead of Argentina’s October 26 legislative elections, declaring his “complete and total endorsement” during a joint appearance at the White House.
Standing beside Milei before reporters, Trump praised the Argentine leader’s economic reforms and predicted victory for his party, La Libertad Avanza. “Your career has been an amazing one, and it’s going to continue with the election. You’re going to win,” Trump said. “We’re going to endorse you. Fully endorse you.”
The endorsement highlights the growing political alliance between the two conservative leaders and comes as Milei’s government faces a key test of public confidence, with half the Chamber of Deputies and one-third of Senate seats up for grabs.
Trump described the Argentine vote as “very big” and closely watched globally, adding that Milei was “on the verge of tremendous economic success.” He said Washington was ready to assist Buenos Aires in achieving stability and growth.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent echoed that stance, saying his department “stands ready” to support Argentina, which he called “a systemically important US ally in Latin America.”
Milei’s party is seeking to regain momentum after a setback in Buenos Aires province, where it trailed the Peronist opposition in recent local polls.
Following their meeting, Trump reiterated his endorsement on his Truth Social platform, calling their discussion “great” and praising Milei for “doing the right things” for Argentina. He concluded his post with his signature slogan: “MAKE ARGENTINA GREAT AGAIN!”
