Toyota opens warehouse and inspection hub in Iraq’s Duhok
New facility strengthens Japanese presence in Kurdistan Region and boosts auto market capacity
DUHOK, Iraq (MNTV) — Toyota has inaugurated a warehouse and pre-inspection center in the northern city of Duhok, marking a significant expansion of Japan’s automotive presence in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
The new site will function as the main distribution hub for Toyota, Lexus, and Hino vehicles, underscoring Iraq’s growing role as a key market in the regional automotive sector.
According to Toyota Iraq, the center will generate new employment opportunities while offering training programs and technical knowledge transfer to the local workforce.
The facility is operated by Sardar Group, Toyota’s exclusive distributor in Iraq. Toyota Iraq itself was established in 2016 as a joint venture between Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and Sardar Group chairman Sardar Al Bebany, reflecting long-term investment in the country’s mobility sector.
