Syria expands services through “Hama is Pulsating Again” initiative
Solar-powered water projects and infrastructure upgrades aim to improve living conditions
HAMA, Syria (MNTV) – Syria has launched a project to equip and operate six wells in eastern Hama, in partnership with UNICEF, with an estimated cost of around $2.5 million, according to the General Establishment for Drinking Water in Hama.
The initiative is part of “Hama is Pulsating Again,” which aims to enhance basic services across the region. The project features the installation of solar energy systems with 177 panels, set to improve water access for over 8,000 people across several villages.
Additionally, the Irrigation Directorate, in cooperation with the FAO, has implemented the third phase of the Canal C1 reinforcement project, which strengthens irrigation infrastructure to boost agricultural water distribution.
Meanwhile, solar systems were installed to power the well at the Grand Mosque in Dhahiriya, improving water provision to the local community.
The initiative also includes rehabilitating horizontal water pumps in Baraq and Tal Qartal.
The “Hama is Pulsating Again” campaign, launched in February 2022, is designed to tackle critical service gaps, such as water and electricity shortages, which have persisted since the conflict escalated.
Governor Abdul Rahman Al-Sahyan emphasized the importance of the project in uniting local and international efforts to improve living conditions.
With its comprehensive approach, the initiative not only seeks to restore basic services but also invites Syrian expatriates to join in the reconstruction efforts.
This multi-faceted project is expected to drive substantial improvements in the quality of life for residents and foster long-term regional development.
