Somalia, Türkiye discuss ways to boost trade and industrial cooperation

MOGADISHU, Somalia (MNTV) — Somali Minister of Commerce and Industry Mohamud Ahmed Adan (Geesood) held talks on Wednesday with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktas, to strengthen economic ties and expand cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, focused on identifying new opportunities to deepen bilateral trade, attract investment, and enhance industrial collaboration.
Minister Adan emphasized the importance of building a results-oriented economic partnership, saying such cooperation is crucial for advancing Somalia’s domestic trade and industrial growth, both key elements of the country’s national economic agenda.
Ambassador Aktas reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s economic progress, noting the two countries share longstanding ties in trade, security, and education.
Over the past decade, Somalia and Türkiye have strengthened their partnership through joint initiatives in defense, development, and infrastructure, making Türkiye one of Somalia’s most consistent international partners.
