Saudi Wafi Energy donates fuel to support Pakistan’s flood relief operations
Company provides 5,000 liters of petrol to NDMA, pledges continued assistance for disaster-hit communities
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (MNTV) — Saudi-owned Wafi Energy has donated 5,000 liters of petrol to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to bolster ongoing rescue and relief efforts as devastating monsoon floods continue to wreak havoc across the country.
The handover ceremony, held at the Saudi Embassy in Islamabad, was attended by Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki and Wafi Energy Pakistan CEO Zubair Shaikh.
The initiative builds on earlier Saudi humanitarian contributions, including aid distributed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), which has already supported over 200,000 flood victims in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to NDMA data, torrential rains and flash floods since late June have killed more than 929 people and affected over 4 million nationwide.
Fuel donations are playing a critical role in enabling the NDMA to power rescue boats, transport relief items to isolated areas, run generators in temporary shelters, and keep emergency vehicles operational.
“This is our third tranche of fuel support to NDMA, and we plan to expand our relief efforts to directly assist communities affected by the floods,” Shaikh said.
He stressed that Wafi Energy, which last year acquired an 87.78 percent stake in Shell Pakistan and now operates over 600 fueling stations and oil terminals nationwide, intends to sustain its contribution beyond fuel deliveries.
Saudi Ambassador Al-Malki praised the initiative, calling on other companies investing in Pakistan to contribute to relief efforts. “This initiative is very important. Many areas remain severely affected, and people urgently need food, shelter, and medical supplies,” he said.
He reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia, through both government channels and private sector partnerships, will continue to stand by Pakistan during this crisis. “The Kingdom is here to support Pakistan in critical situations,” Al-Malki added.
