Saudi Arabia’s Hail breaks Guinness record with off-road convoy
Five hundred and one vehicles cross desert route, setting global mark for largest off-road drive
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia’s Hail region has secured a Guinness World Record after staging the world’s largest off-road production vehicle convoy.
A total of 501 vehicles drove through the dunes of the Tuwaren area, around 42 kilometres northwest of Hail and surrounded by the Aja Mountains, surpassing the previous record of 449 vehicles set in Australia.
Participants from across the Kingdom, as well as from Gulf and Arab countries, completed a seven-kilometre unpaved desert trail, highlighting the region’s varied terrain and adventure appeal, reported Arab News.
The event welcomed both experienced off-road drivers and first-time participants, offering a winter recreational activity suitable for individuals, families and groups.
Cultural and entertainment programmes accompanied the convoy, enhancing the experience for visitors and drivers.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Hail Province and Chairman of the Hail Region Development Authority, thanked the Saudi leadership for supporting regional development and praised local youth for their role in achieving the record.
Omar Abdullah Al-Abdul-Jabbar, Chief Executive Officer of the Hail Region Development Authority, described the achievement as a national milestone that strengthens Hail’s status as a destination for desert tourism and adventure activities.
The event was organised by the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Hail Region Development Authority, with sponsorship from the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority and Culture House.
Fourteen government bodies supported the initiative, including the Principality of Hail Region and the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.
