Saudi Arabia honors Pakistan army chief with top medal
Honor recognizes Pakistan army chief’s role in strengthening bilateral defense ties and advancing longstanding Saudi-Pakistani cooperation
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) — Saudi Arabia has conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of the First Class on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations and defense cooperation between the two countries.
The award was presented by Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman during a ceremony at his office in Riyadh, following a royal directive issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Saudi officials said the honor reflects Field Marshal Munir’s distinguished efforts in deepening Saudi-Pakistani friendship, enhancing joint military coordination, and promoting broader cooperation across strategic sectors.
Prince Khalid also congratulated Munir on his appointment as Chief of Defense Forces and conveyed his best wishes for success.
The meeting accompanying the ceremony included discussions on the historical depth of Saudi-Pakistani ties, existing defense partnerships, and prospects for further collaboration in support of regional and international peace and security.
Senior Saudi officials in attendance included Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and other high-ranking defense officials.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, alongside senior military figures including Major General Muhammad Jawad Tariq and Brigadier General Mohsin Javed.
