Qatar, South Korea deepen AI cooperation through joint forum
Doha event highlights national strategies, startup ecosystem, and cross-border innovation
DOHA, Qatar (MNTV) — Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) partnered with the South Korean Embassy in Doha and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) to organize the Qatar-Korea Artificial Intelligence Forum. The event was held under the theme “Qatar-Korea Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence Innovations.”
The gathering brought together senior officials, including Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT; South Korea’s Ambassador to Qatar, Yun Hyunsoo; and Byung Ho Kim, Regional President of KOTRA MENA, alongside technology leaders and business representatives.
In her remarks, Al Mansoori highlighted Qatar’s advancing digital ecosystem, citing initiatives such as the National AI Program, the newly launched National AI Center, the Digital Incubation Centre, the TASMU Accelerator, Scale Now, and SMEs Go Digital.
She noted that these platforms have already empowered hundreds of startups and entrepreneurs while driving innovation across industries.
She also underlined ongoing collaboration with Scale AI, which supports government entities in applying predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data insights to improve efficiency and public services.
Qatar aims to implement more than 50 AI-driven use cases by 2029, with several projects already underway.
“The cooperation between Qatar and Korea is both practical and promising,” Al Mansoori said. “By combining Qatar’s strategic vision and investment environment with Korea’s technological expertise, we can accelerate progress in research, infrastructure, and talent development.”
Ambassador Hyunsoo echoed the sentiment, stressing that both nations are well-positioned to lead in AI. “Korea contributes advanced technology and industrial expertise, while Qatar provides vision, resources, and a strong commitment to transformation. Together, we can unlock new opportunities,” he said.
KOTRA’s Regional President Byung Ho Kim pointed to Qatar’s recent establishment of the National AI Center and its Digital Agenda 2030 as key steps toward global AI leadership.
He emphasized that Korean firms are ready to share technologies aligned with Qatar’s goals. “By working together, we can translate ideas into practical solutions and contribute to Qatar’s digital transformation,” he said.
The forum underscored the potential for business-to-business collaboration and opened new communication channels between Qatar and South Korea, reinforcing both countries’ ambitions to advance innovation and strengthen their global standing in artificial intelligence.
