Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo to explore potential markets
Organiser says their main goal is to help micro, small, and medium enterprises position themselves in Halal market
DAVAO CITY, the Philippines (MNTV) — The Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo (PHTTE), to be held in Davao City from June 18–20, will showcase a wide range of Halal foods and products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the country, says an official.
An accredited sub-event of Duaw Davao—one of the major annual events of the Davao City Government—the PHTTE aims to bring together entrepreneurs and consumers to explore and promote the Halal industry in the country, reports IQNA.
This year’s theme is “Showcasing Diverse Halal, Halal-Ready, and Friendly Markets of All Regions to the International Arena”.
Marilou Ampuan, Founding President of the Philippine Halal Advocacy Corporation, announced during the I-Speak Media Forum earlier this week that three major events will take place – the Trade Fair, Free Halal Medical Services, and the Halal Global Academic Forum.
The main goal is to help MSMEs position themselves in the Halal market, Ampuan said, adding that the global Halal market is valued at $7.2 trillion.
A business networking session will be held on Day 1 for MSMEs seeking investment.
Ampuan said that enterprises can take advantage of this platform to explore Halal markets globally.
Ampuan also said that a key highlight of this year’s event is the Free Halal Medical Services, to be organized in partnership with the Department of Health.
The Halal Global Academic Forum will run throughout the three-day event and will feature collaborative sessions, youth presentations, and Halal innovation pitches.
The forum will be co-hosted by the University of the Immaculate Conception and the Holy Cross of Davao College, in academic partnership with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
She added that hosting the Expo positions the city as a Halal hub, noting that Davao City has enacted several Halal ordinances and operates its own Halal slaughterhouse.
Ampuan also mentioned that the city has many Halal-accredited establishments and has received national and regional citations in recognition of its Halal initiatives.
