KARACHI, Pakistan (MNTV) — Students from the University of Engineering and Technology have developed Pakistan’s first artificial intelligence-powered legal assistant, a tool experts say could transform legal research and improve access to justice.
The system, described by its creators as an “AI lawyer,” is designed to assist legal professionals by generating case documents and legal analysis with a single command, significantly reducing the time spent on research and paperwork.
According to the developers, the AI draws on court judgments and laws dating from 1947 to 2025, enabling it to deliver comprehensive and accurate legal responses. Tasks that once took weeks or months using traditional databases can now be completed in minutes, they said.
Legal experts say the innovation could help reduce case backlogs by speeding up preparation, allowing lawyers to focus more on strategy and advocacy rather than manual research.
Developers also say the tool has the potential to empower young lawyers, promote transparency and strengthen public trust in the justice system by making legal information more accessible.
The project highlights the growing role of Pakistani students in developing technology-driven solutions and reflects broader efforts by young innovators to contribute to reforms across key sectors, including law and governance.
