Oman teams up with South Korea to boost fisheries, industry
Strategic partnership to drive marine innovation, technology transfer, and economic cooperation
MUSCAT, Oman – Oman is strengthening its fisheries and industrial sectors by partnering with South Korea, leveraging its strategic geographic location and vast marine resources.
Ocean Experts Fisheries LLC of Oman and South Korea’s Harbon Co. have launched a joint initiative to enhance fish farming, technological development, and industry exchange.
The partnership, first reported by the Oman Daily Observer, aims to integrate South Korean expertise into Oman’s market, fostering trade, investment, and participation in global conferences and trade shows.
“While it primarily focuses on the fishery sector, we also aim to facilitate collaboration across other industries,” said Faisal bin Abdullah Al Sunaidi, founder of Ocean Experts Fisheries LLC.
With South Korea’s advanced technology and Oman’s abundant marine resources, the initiative seeks to enhance sustainable fishery practices, processing, and export capabilities. “By combining our strengths, we can drive significant advancements in fisheries and industrial innovation,” Al Sunaidi added.
Lee Jung Kook, founder and CEO of Harbon Co., emphasized the initiative’s role in connecting South Korean businesses with Oman’s market.
“Our goal is to accelerate technology exports, support investment opportunities, and create a sustainable partnership benefiting both countries,” he said.
Beyond fisheries, the collaboration will facilitate technology transfer, financing for investment projects, and strengthening Oman’s production capacity by making South Korean expertise more accessible to Omani businesses.
