Oman partners with LYNEports to launch hybrid-electric air mobility network
New VTOL project aims to transform intra-city travel with advanced vertiport infrastructure
MUSCAT, Oman (MNTV) — Oman’s push toward futuristic urban transport has taken a major step forward with a new partnership between AeroVecto, the country’s pioneering hybrid-electric aircraft developer, and LYNEports, a global leader in vertiport infrastructure planning.
The collaboration aims to create a smart, scalable urban air mobility network tailored to the Sultanate’s transport needs, reported Zawya news.
At the center of this initiative is Shuttle, AeroVecto’s flagship hybrid-electric VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft designed for short-distance, high-capacity travel within and between cities.
Shuttle has been engineered for efficiency and durability in the Gulf’s challenging climate, offering a sustainable alternative to ground transport while enhancing passenger comfort and regional connectivity.
LYNEports will contribute its artificial intelligence-based planning platform to develop a network of vertiports supporting Shuttle’s operations.
This includes selecting suitable sites, modeling airspace usage, conducting environmental assessments, and integrating the system into existing urban transport infrastructure.
“Supporting AeroVecto’s vision for advanced air mobility aligns perfectly with our mission to build safe, accessible, and future-ready vertiport infrastructure,” said Rasha Alshami, CEO of LYNEports.
Fahad Al Riyami, CEO of AeroVecto, emphasized the project’s long-term ambition: “Our goal is to make aerial public transport a viable and sustainable option for cities across Oman and the GCC. With LYNEports, we can move swiftly toward operational readiness with precision and innovation.”
Initial feasibility studies and simulations will focus on urban corridors in Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah. Over time, the project is expected to support Oman’s broader goals under Vision 2040, including the expansion of green mobility and smart city infrastructure.
The partnership positions Oman at the forefront of regional efforts to adopt advanced air mobility solutions, merging next-generation aviation technology with digitally driven planning systems to reshape how people move across the Sultanate.
