Media City Qatar, Microsoft sign deal to boost innovation in media and tech sectors
Partnership to focus on digital upskilling, startup support, and R&D collaboration to advance Qatar’s creative economy goals
DOHA, Qatar (MNTV) — Media City Qatar and Microsoft Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday aimed at driving digital innovation across Qatar’s media and creative technology sectors.
The agreement was formalized on the second day of the 2025 Qatar Economic Forum, Powered by Bloomberg, and outlines a joint commitment to strengthen media entrepreneurship and expand opportunities for training, mentorship, and startup development.
As part of the collaboration, Microsoft will support Media City Qatar’s upcoming ‘Media Innovation Lab’ initiative, which will provide access to technology, upskilling programs, and business support for startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The partnership also includes cooperation on innovation challenges, joint research and development (R&D), and co-branded events to accelerate Qatar’s creative economy.
Additionally, Microsoft Qatar will assist in developing Media City Qatar’s unified digital platform and explore new opportunities to empower local media startups through joint marketing campaigns and public relations initiatives.
“This collaboration with Microsoft reflects our shared belief in the power of technology to shape what comes next for the media sector,” said Engineer Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar.
“Signing this MoU during the 2025 Qatar Economic Forum, where technology is a key pillar, highlights our commitment to building a knowledge-based economy aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Media City Qatar, the official partner of the forum, continues to expand its global partnerships to accelerate growth in the local media and tech landscape.
In 2023, it signed a multi-year agreement with Bloomberg Media to host the Qatar Economic Forum through 2027.
