Kyrgyzstan to double doctors’ salaries, offer subsidized houses
Government pledges 100% pay raise for medical workers from April 2026 and priority access to 5,000 mortgage apartments
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (MNTV) — Kyrgyzstan plans a sweeping expansion of social support for medical workers, including a 100% salary increase for all doctors starting in April 2026, Health Minister Kanybek Dosmambetov said.
The government will also allocate 5,000 mortgage apartments to medical personnel on a priority basis, allowing them to bypass the general housing queue, according to The Times of Central Asia.
Dosmambetov announced the measures during visits to the oncology and oncohematology departments of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and the Center for Child Rehabilitation and Family Support in Bishkek, where he conveyed New Year greetings to patients and staff.
Medical professionals are already eligible for the state mortgage program, which offers subsidized interest rates and waives standard waiting periods. The new measures, the minister said, are designed to retain skilled workers and make the medical profession more attractive.
“The ministry has been tasked with effectively reforming the healthcare system, creating sustainable and transparent operating mechanisms, modernizing infrastructure, developing maternal and child healthcare, and strengthening public health and disease prevention,” Dosmambetov said.
He described the coming period as critical for the sector, with priorities including a reliable supply of affordable, high-quality medicines, equal operating conditions for private medical institutions, and stronger management discipline and accountability at all levels.
The government also plans to accelerate the adoption of digital technologies to improve transparency and access to healthcare services, laying the groundwork for broader structural reforms, Dosmambetov said.
