Kuwait launches National Robotics Championship for 2025-2026 season
Event aims to foster innovation, creativity, and STEM excellence among students through national competitions and advanced training programs
KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait (MNTV) — The Kuwait National Robotics Championship for the 2025–2026 season has officially begun, marking the country’s largest platform for promoting youth innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The event is jointly organized by Kuwait University’s Computer Science Department and the Public Authority for Youth, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, according to Kuwait Times.
Acting Dean of the College of Science at Kuwait University, Dr. Haidar Behbehani, emphasized the university’s commitment to investing in young scientific talent and preparing students for future labor market demands.
He said the championship strengthens participants’ technical expertise in robotics, artificial intelligence, and applied sciences while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Acting Director General of Youth, Nasser Al-Sheikh, noted that the competition serves as a national platform for discovering and nurturing Kuwaiti talent in science and technology.
He added that empowering youth through such initiatives contributes to the country’s long-term vision for sustainable development and knowledge-based growth.
The competition includes several specialized events such as the VEX Robotics, Drone, and Seaperch Marine Robotics contests, supported by workshops and scientific camps that prepare participants for international tournaments.
Since its launch in 2023, the championship has attracted growing participation and earned Kuwaiti teams recognition at global competitions in the United States.
In a related announcement, the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC) — under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) — opened registration for the national qualifying tests for the 2026 International Chemistry and Physics Olympiads.
The events are set to take place in Uzbekistan and Colombia in July 2026, with registration open until October 25.
The SACGC stated that the program aims to prepare top Kuwaiti students to represent the country in these prestigious contests, which challenge participants with rigorous theoretical and practical exams.
Outstanding students will undergo intensive training supervised by international experts and receive financial rewards — including KD 2,500 ($8,000) for gold and KD 2,000 ($6,500) for silver medals.
