Kazakhstan introduces golden visa to attract global investors
Long-term residency scheme targets foreign capital, innovation, and business migration
ASTANA, Kazakhstan (MNTV) — Kazakhstan has launched a new investor visa program allowing foreign nationals to obtain long-term residency by investing in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this week.
The new scheme offers a so-called “golden visa” to foreign investors who contribute at least $300,000 into the charter capital of Kazakh companies or locally listed securities.
Applications can be submitted electronically, and successful applicants may obtain a residence permit valid for up to 10 years.
According to the foreign ministry, the move aims to increase Kazakhstan’s global investment appeal and establish lasting international business partnerships.
The government cited similar initiatives in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and several European countries as effective models for attracting foreign capital and talent.
By introducing a golden visa, Kazakhstan seeks to provide a more stable and predictable environment for foreign investors, backed by legal protections and government guarantees.
The program is part of a wider effort to promote openness and deepen global economic engagement.
Kazakhstan has recently expanded its visa offerings to include categories aimed at digital workers, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals.
These include the Neo Nomad Visa, Digital Nomad Visa, and a specialized Residence Visa.
The Digital Nomad Visa targets freelancers, IT specialists, and startup founders by offering long-term stay options.
The Neo Nomad Visa caters to remote workers who travel while employed, requiring a minimum verified income of $3,000 per month, health insurance, and a clean criminal record.
Meanwhile, the Residence Visa is designed for professionals in healthcare, science, education, innovation, and the creative industries, allowing stays of up to 90 days.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Kazakhstan received 15.3 million visitors in 2024—a 66% increase from the previous year—highlighting the country’s growing appeal to international travelers and business professionals alike.
