Jabal Akhdar Park inaugurated in Oman as new family and eco-tourism hub
20,000 sqm project aligns with Vision 2040, offering leisure, cultural, and green spaces
AL DAKHILIYAH, Oman (MNTV) — Oman’s Al Dakhiliyah Governorate officially opened Jabal Akhdar Park on Monday marking a major step in boosting tourism and community development in the highlands.
Located in Seih Qatna, the park spans 20,000 square meters with an investment of more than USD 2.8 million, making it a year-round destination for families and travelers, according to Travel and World Tour.
The park features facilities for all age groups, including a 1,000 sqm children’s play area, sports pathways for walking and running, and investment zones for cafés, shops, and electric games.
A multi-purpose open-air theatre was also built to host cultural performances, festivals, and social gatherings, while amenities such as prayer rooms and separate restrooms ensure convenience for visitors.
Green landscaping covers 5,000 sqm, with 150 trees and 400 shrubs planted to reflect the character of Jabal Akhdar, often known as the “Green Mountain.”
Shaded areas and natural vegetation were designed to enhance the park’s atmosphere, blending leisure with ecological identity.
Officials said the project reflects the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which prioritizes sustainable tourism, public infrastructure, and private sector investment.
The park, they noted, connects culture, environment, and commerce in a way that benefits both residents and visitors.
The launch follows the opening of Celebration Square last month during the Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025. Together, the park and square form a pair of recreational and cultural landmarks for the governorate.
Looking ahead, authorities plan to expand investment in eco-tourism, smart agriculture, and community services around the park, aiming to create jobs, attract private investment, and strengthen regional development.
For travelers, the park adds a new dimension to the Jabal Akhdar experience, complementing the region’s orchards, cool climate, and mountain scenery with family-friendly leisure and cultural spaces.
