Israel defies Trump’s call, continues bombing Gaza amid truce talks
At least eight killed and 61 wounded in 24 hours as Trump-backed negotiations continue in Egypt
GAZA, Palestine (MNTV) — Defying U.S. President Donald Trump’s appeal to halt strikes, Israel continued bombing Gaza on Wednesday even as ceasefire talks entered their third day in Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least eight Palestinians were killed and 61 wounded in the past 24 hours. Hospitals received 10 more bodies overnight, many of them pulled from the debris of flattened homes.
Witnesses in Rafah said Israeli forces opened fire on crowds waiting for aid near a food distribution centre, killing one person and injuring several others.
Medical staff at Nasser Hospital confirmed receiving casualties from the attack.
Al Jazeera reported that Israeli troops detonated explosive-laden vehicles in Gaza City’s Sabra neighbourhood — a tactic used repeatedly throughout the campaign to force residents to flee.
Entire blocks in Sabra and Shuja’iyya have been reduced to rubble, leaving thousands homeless.
Since the war began in October 2023, Israel’s attacks have killed at least 67,183 Palestinians and wounded 169,841, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
The enclave’s infrastructure lies in ruins, with hospitals overwhelmed, food and fuel scarce, and millions displaced.
Despite global appeals, including Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan calling for an end to hostilities, reconstruction, and prisoner exchanges, Israel’s bombardment shows no sign of slowing.
For Palestinians enduring yet another night of air raids, the ceasefire remains a distant promise — drowned out by the sound of explosions and the cries for help beneath the rubble.
