Rider clinches 2024–2025 season title after six months of intense competition in Riyadh
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (MNTV) – Iraqi rider Zaid Mohammed Al-Nujaifi has been crowned champion of the 2024–2025 show jumping season in Saudi Arabia, marking a historic achievement for Iraq in equestrian sports, the Iraqi Olympic Committee announced.
Al-Nujaifi secured the top position at the conclusion of the season’s final round in Riyadh, prevailing after six months of fierce competition.
He amassed a total of 3,887.6 points, narrowly edging out Saudi contender Saad Al-Ajmi, who finished second with 3,758.9 points.
“This is a milestone victory for Iraq and a testament to Al-Nujaifi’s remarkable skill and perseverance,” the Olympic Committee said in its statement.
The committee praised Al-Nujaifi’s performance, highlighting his ability to withstand pressure, maintain consistency, and demonstrate superior mental and physical preparation throughout the season.
Much of this success, the committee added, is credited to his coach, Abdulrahman Al-Khammash, whose training and guidance were key in preparing Al-Nujaifi for elite competition.
The 2024–2025 show jumping season in Saudi Arabia drew top riders from across the region, with rankings remaining highly competitive until the final rounds.
Al-Nujaifi’s victory marks a significant boost for Iraq’s presence in the international equestrian scene.
