Iran’s nuclear power plant set to resume electricity production in June
Desalination unit at the facility to significantly contribute to providing drinking water for the local community while supporting energy production efforts
BUSHEHR, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has finalized fuel loading and maintenance, preparing to restart electricity production from June 22, the start of the Iranian month of Tir, officials said on Monday.
Reza Banazadeh, head of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, told a press briefing that the plant is ready to enter its operational phase in accordance with the Ministry of Energy’s schedule.
“Energy production at the Bushehr plant is a critical national priority,” Banazadeh said, emphasizing the importance of the facility in meeting Iran’s growing electricity needs.
Banazadeh also highlighted the plant’s 75,000 cubic meter desalination unit, which is expected to play a vital role in supplying drinking water to the local population.
The completion of fuel loading and the readiness to resume operations mark a significant step in Iran’s efforts to boost its energy infrastructure.
The operation of the nuclear power plant for domestic, civilian uses comes at a time when the US is pressuring Iran to scale down nuclear operations completely.
