Iranian filmmaker to serve as juror at Genesis International Film Festival 2025
Tirsahar returns for third consecutive year as jury member at the global event, set to take place across multiple countries including Greece, Russia, China, and Brazil
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Renowned Iranian film director and producer Kasra Tirsahar has been selected as a juror for the 2025 edition of the Genesis International Film Festival (GIFF), according to Tehran Times.
This marks his third consecutive year serving on the jury for the prestigious event, which will be held in several countries, including Russia, China, Greece, and Brazil, with the opening and closing ceremonies taking place in Greece.
Tirsahar, who holds a Master’s degree in cinema from the University of Arts in Tehran, is a distinguished figure in the global film industry.
He has previously served on the jury of the International Section of the RIFF (Austria) and several other film festivals in the U.S. and Colombia.
Known for his acclaimed short film “Gallu,” which has garnered numerous international awards, Tirsahar is deeply committed to promoting independent cinema.
Reflecting on his role at GIFF, Tirsahar said, “It’s a unique opportunity to discover the latest voices in independent cinema.
In recent years, GIFF has firmly established itself as one of the leading short film festivals, bridging cultures and languages with its global perspective.”
Tirsahar also praised the diversity of entries for this year’s festival, noting, “This year’s entries have shown remarkable diversity in both geographical origin and form. It’s inspiring to see so many films addressing human and social issues in fresh and innovative ways.”
One of the defining features of GIFF, according to Tirsahar, is the simultaneous screening of selected films across multiple countries.
“This not only broadens the global reach of the films but also fosters a multicultural experience for both filmmakers and audiences,” he added. “Judging at GIFF is not just about evaluating films; it’s an ongoing cultural dialogue.”
The Genesis International Film Festival is renowned for showcasing creative cinematic talent, acting as a global platform that nurtures and promotes the work of emerging filmmakers.
Beyond the festival, GIFF actively supports its winners by facilitating screenings across various countries and providing access to international platforms, streaming services, and TV channels.
GIFF’s mission is to celebrate unique artistic voices, reward excellence in filmmaking, and create a dynamic community where creative professionals can exchange ideas and build meaningful connections.
