Iran unveils long-range Shahed-107 suicide drone amid regional tensions
IRGC reveals loitering munition with 1,500 km range, marking new milestone in drone capabilities
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force has unveiled the Shahed-107, a new long-range suicide drone designed for precision strikes, according to images and reports published by Iranian state media on Tuesday.
The Shahed-107 is a piston-engine loitering munition with an estimated operational range of over 1,500 kilometers, according to Tehran Times.
Tew system underscores Iran’s continued focus on developing long-range unmanned aerial vehicles capable of penetrating enemy defenses and executing kamikaze-style attacks.
While technical specifications remain limited, the design and propulsion system suggest an emphasis on endurance and deep-strike capability, expanding the reach of Iranian drone operations well beyond its borders.
The unveiling comes amid heightened tensions in the region following consecutive days of missile and air strikes between Iran and Israel.
Tehran has increasingly relied on its domestically produced drone fleet as a core element of its military deterrence strategy, with earlier variants such as the Shahed-136 gaining global notoriety during conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Iranian officials have not confirmed whether the Shahed-107 has been deployed operationally, but its introduction aligns with broader efforts to modernize and diversify the IRGC’s drone arsenal.
The announcement also follows repeated warnings by Western and Israeli defense officials about Iran’s advancing drone and missile programs, which they say pose a growing threat to regional stability.
