Iran holds grand Army Day parades amid U.S. threats
Military showcases latest defense systems as leadership signals combat readiness in face of external pressure
TEHRAN, Iran (MNTV) — Iran displayed large-scale military parades across the country to mark its annual National Army Day, showcasing its newest defense and military achievements at a time of heightened tensions with the United States.
The nationwide displays came in the wake of renewed American threats to launch strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, raising concerns of potential escalation in the region.
The main parade in Tehran, was attended by high-ranking government and military officials, including senior commanders of Iran’s Army and defense establishment, reported IRNA News.
Dozens of advanced systems—including unmanned aerial vehicles, missile platforms, and mobile radar units—were unveiled as part of the show of strength.
The commemorative event was initiated by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ruhollah Khomeini, who institutionalized Army Day following the 1979 revolution.
Military analysts say this year’s Army Day ceremonies carry particular weight, as Iran seeks to project deterrence and national unity in response to what officials describe as “hostile rhetoric” from Washington.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly stated that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence and self-reliance, especially in light of international sanctions and efforts to isolate the country militarily.
Iranian officials emphasized that the Army, alongside the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, remains fully capable of responding to any act of aggression against the country’s sovereignty.
